Following a disappointing 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace, Arsenal’s captain, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, has come out to apologize for his tackle against Max Meyer.

Aubameyang, who was awarded a red card after a VAR review on his tackle, has come out to apologize and insisted that he did not intend on injuring Max Meyer with the foul.

Aubameyang converted a beautiful through-ball from co-striker and teammate, Lacazette, to give his side the lead in the first half.

In the second half, a series of defensive errors led to a Jordan Ayew’s deflected goal to put things level. After Aubameyang was red carded midway through the second period, Arsenal were left to chase the game susbquently.

The referee, Paul Tierney, had initially handed Aubameyang a yellow card following a tackle on Crystal Palace winger, Meyer, before the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) reviewed the call and disclosed that Aubameyang missed the ball and made contact with the Meyer's ankle, deeming it a red card offense.

Aubameyang took to his Instagram handle to send a message to Meyer and his supporters.

"Hopefully Max Meyer [will] get well soon,” Aubameyang wrote on Instagram.

"I really didn’t want to challenge him so hard and I appreciate that the boys fought hard to take that win but unfortunately we come back with a draw we keep going," he said.
