Southampton defeated former Premier League giants, Leicester City, 2-1, during Saturday’s game week 22 fixtures.
Leicester had defeated Southampton 0-9 at Saint Mary's stadium. The club took the lead early on into the match through midfielder, Dennis Praet, but the visitors, Southampton, fought back and Stuart Armstrong equalised after just 18 minutes.
Southampton in-form striker, Danny Ings, hit the bar twice but he went on to cement his name in the hearts of the Soton fans when he claimed the match-winning goal in the 80th minute.
Southampton coach, Ralph Hasenhuttl, has guided his lads to a good run of form as they sit just six points off of the top five barely months after the club was battled a tough relegation battle.
The team started the game well and saw a big chance for key man, Ings, to go begging early on, as the striker raced through one-on-one with Kasper Schmeichel before being denied twice.
Leicester’s quality as a big club was obvious this season, though, as they gained the lead in the 13th minute. However, Saints did not take long to respond with an equaliser.
