City Stay Will Be A Failure Without The Champions League - Pep

Austin Papi

The Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, since taking charge at the Ethiad, has not only brought unprecedented success to the club but also did it in thrilling style, as he has transformed Manchester City to a deadly attacking force.

However, the Pep believes that he will be forever regarded as a failed manager if he does not bring the UEFA Champions League trophy to the Etihad Stadium.

City’s next hurdle in the UEFA Champions League will be facing Real Madrid in the round of 16, with the first leg at the Santiago Bernabeu in just over three weeks’ time.

Guardiola has recently come under repeated criticism for his refusal to compromise on his normal style of possession football, which includes building from the defence and also playing a defensive high line.

So far this season, his team has dropped crucial points against some teams due to this reason, but Pep Guardiola being a dogged manager, seems to continue down that path.

He said,

“Winning a certain way is what helps you to win the titles,

”We believe we can play that way. We will see at the end.

“We will, of course, not just be judged on the way we play but the titles we win. That is the truth. It is as simple as that.

“We believe in this way. Last year was an extraordinary one for us but people say, 'but you didn't win the Champions League’.

“That is why I will be judged - if we don't win it in my final period here I will be a failure here, I know that.

“I enjoy working with my players and my players still win a lot of games but I cannot say more. I cannot pretend that the people believe what we've done as a team. If you agree with me or not, it is not a problem.

“The judgement on the season will be at the end of the season. Obviously it is a perfect season when you win all the titles.”
