Didier Drogba would love to see Kylian Mbappe win the Ballon d’Or even as he acknowledges Cristiano Ronaldo exceptional abilities.
The Chelsea legend wants to see a different player win the award Ronaldo and Messi have dominated for years.
Both superstars have shared the award between them in the last ten years, winning it five times respectively.
Mbappe who won the treble with PSG last season and the World Cup with France has been shortlisted in the top thirty.
The 19-year-old was also named the best young player at the FIFA World Cup in Russia is a frontrunner alongside FIFA player of the year, Luka Modric, Ronaldo and Griezman.
“It would be really nice to see Kylian Mbappe win it. It would be refreshing,” Drogba told Goal.
“But Ronaldo is still there, he’s still a machine. He won all these Champions League trophies, changed leagues to go to Juventus, and he’s scoring goals there. The man is just unbelievable.”
