Luis Suarez has urged Ousmane Dembele to be more responsible if he wants to be a success at Barcelona.
Dembele has been in the news recently for his attitude and was dropped for Barca’s 4-3 home loss to Real Betis.
There are worries the 21-year-old could be addicted to gaming after he missed training following a gaming marathon.
The French international joined Barcelona from Borussia Dortmund for an initial £97 million but has struggled to fully adapt.
The Barcelona striker is no stranger to controversies and disciplinary issues, having been involved biting incidents in the Dutch league and English Premier League.
Ahead of Uruguay’s friendly against the World champions, Suarez advised his club team-mate in a press conference.
“It’s not that he did not adapt because the relationship with his team-mates is very good. We see him being happy,” he told reporters.
“But as some of my team-mates have said, and Ousmane knows, football is a privilege for every player. I think he needs to focus more, and be more responsible regarding certain things.”
“There are many people around him in Barcelona who he can draw inspiration from, people with great professionalism. But he deserves to be there and triumph with Barcelona.”
Dembele has failed to nail down a starters shirt in his time at Camp Nou. He has also bee linked with a move away from the club with Premier League clubs rumoured to be interested in signing him.
